Shadowed Flag: 308 Bullet Pen
Shadow Flag pens are made to order.
The Shadow Flag 308 Bullet Pen is made from the casings of fired 308 rounds. The casings are first prepped (cleaned and then sandblasted with Aluminum Oxide) and then off gassed (baked) for 30 minutes to insure no contaminants are left behind that would interfere with the Cerakote process.
Next the casings get a 2 layer base coat of Graphite Black Cerakote and then flash cured. After that the Stars and Stripes vinyls are applied followed by a thick coat of Armor Black Cerakote and then flash cured again. After the flash cure the Stars and Stripes vinyls are removed.
Next the casings go in the oven for 2 hours at 250 degrees to get fully cured. Once the casings are fully cured they get an acetone bath to insure the Cerakote properly adhered to the casing, the Cerakote layers adhered to each other, and all the vinyl glue is removed. Cerakote is a ceramic coating and when applied properly will not be affected by thinners or acetone. If the casings are good to go they are assembled into pens.
The metal pen hardware (clip, end cap, tip, and center band) is gloss black.
Our 308 Pens come with Black Ink. The ink cartridges are replaceable, which can be done by firmly gripping the top and bottom casing and pulling both casings away from the center. completely pull until both casings separate from each other exposing the twist mechanism and the plastic end of the ink cartridge. Unscrew the plastic end of the ink cartridge, remove it, and replace it with a new one.
This pens takes a Cross Pen style ink cartridge.
