308 Bullet Pen: Battleworn Dead Pool
Dead Pool Pens are made to order. The current lead time is 7-10 days.
The Battleworn Dead Pool 308 Bullet Pen is made from the casings of fired 308 rounds. The casings are first prepped (cleaned and then sandblasted with Aluminum Oxide) and then off gassed (baked) for 30 minutes to insure no contaminants are left behind that would interfere with the Cerakote process. Next the casings get a 2 layer base coat of Smith and Wesson Red Cerakote and then flash cured. After that the Dead Pool image is applied followed by a thick coat of Graphite Black Cerakote and then flash cured again. The casing then go through 2 distress (Battleworn) processes to get that hard worn look. Next the casings go in the oven for 2 hours at 250 degrees to get fully cured. Once the casings are fully cured they get an acetone bath to insure the Cerakote properly adhered to the casing and the Cerakote layers adhered to each other. Cerakote is a ceramic paint and applied properly will not be affected by thinners or acetone. If the casings are good to go they are cleaned and assembled into pens.
The metal center band also gets the same prep, Smith and Wesson Red Cerakote, cure, acetone bath, and inspection process, they are not Battleworn.
Our 308 Pens come with Black Ink. The ink cartridges are replaceable, which can be done by firmly gripping the top and bottom casing and pull away from the center completely pulling the pen apart, unscrew the ink cartridge, and replace it with a new one. The 308 pens take a Cross Pen style ink cartridge.
